Thanksgiving Reflection: 3 Things I am Thankful For

Updated: Jan 1, 2022

Thanksgiving is one of those holidays that grounds me and forces me to put things in perspective. The past couple of months have brought about so much change in my life: I quit my job, moved across the country, mourned the passing of my Grandma, enrolled in Real Estate school, and started a new job in a brand new city.

This year I am grateful for:

Perspective

This year I am thankful for perspective. A lot of times when you’re experiencing something stressful you can fall quickly into the “Why me” mentality. Through all the wins and losses of this year I have discovered through deep reflection that “I am exactly where I need to be'' and “everything happens for a reason”. Everything happens for a reason and everything works itself out no matter how chaotic it may seem.

Family

This year I am thankful for the time spent with my family. My Grandma passed away this year and I feel eternally grateful that I got to spend time with her before her decline. I am also grateful that I was there with her on her last days. At the time it was extremely painful to watch her suffer, but now I just feel lucky. I feel lucky that I got to hold her hand and no matter how weak she was she still was able to squeeze it. I feel lucky that she was able to muster up the strength to say my name. I also feel grateful that I was given the honor to read her Eulogy and lay her to rest.

New Beginnings

This year I am thankful for New Beginnings. Moving to Dallas has forced me to step outside of my comfort zone and be comfortable with being uncomfortable. It was uncomfortable to move to a new city where I did not know anyone yet it turned out to be the best decision because it made room for new friends, new experiences, and new coffee shops to visit!

What are you Thankful for this year?

Stay Creative,

Lauren
